Lead and Win Where You Are!

One of the great tragedies in life are the hundreds of millions of people, all over the world, who constantly look around themselves, many times with envy, sadness, and reluctant resolve, continually convinced that the grass is greener elsewhere. These people usually go through life restless, unfulfilled, and unhappy.

 

Other people, unfortunately far fewer, embrace a totally different, but absolutely liberating and uplifting attitude and philosophy of work and life. These wonderful people have made an intentional, proactive, long-term choice to LEAD AND WIN WHERE THEY ARE!

 

During my life I have been privileged to have:

• Lived in rural western Nebraska, Oklahoma City, OK, St. Louis, MO, Cedar Rapids, IA, and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area.
• Worked for ranchers, fast food joints, Western Electric, newspaper companies, and as a classical and flamenco guitarist and guitar teacher.
• Completed undergraduate and graduate school, and a hospital residency.
• Served as a hospital CEO, national education and networking leader and facilitator, bank board member, national association board member, and as a self-employed leader, speaker, and author.

 

Regardless of the location, job, or responsibilities, I have learned that most people are convinced that the grass is greener elsewhere.

 

I have also learned that the most fulfilled, happy, and highly successful people in each location, job, and area of responsibility have purposely decided and have committed to lead and win where they are.

 

‘LEAD AND WIN WHERE YOU ARE’ people understand that the best predictor of future performance and success is past performance and success. These people don’t patiently or impatiently wait for greener pastures or better circumstances or better opportunities. They understand that “if it’s to be, it’s up to me.” That means now, as well as in the future, for as long as they live. Now, in the future, and forever, “if it’s to be it’s up to me!”

 

Are you leading and winning where you are? If so, you need not worry too much about the future. If you win where you are, people will seek and find you no matter where you are. They will invite and welcome you to greater opportunities and greater personal, professional, and organizational success! No matter how you define success!
