Healthcare Leadership
with Dan Nielsen dan@americashealthcareleaders.com
I was recently honored to be interviewed by my good friend and colleague John Self for his excellent blog and podcast, cleverly named Self Perspective. Knowing my background as a hospital CEO and senior healthcare executive, John asked me a series of great questions regarding healthcare leadership.
One of the questions John asked was “From your perspective, what are the keys to leadership success today? If you were back running a hospital, what approach would you take?”
For my exact response, you’ll have to check out the podcast once it’s published, but here are the notes I made on this question ahead of time:
“I would focus nearly 100% of my time on being and becoming the absolute best inspirational leader I could be. The day-to-day major and minor issues, challenges, and opportunities will change. Effective inspirational leadership will not change and will never go out of style. Inspirational leadership will always be one of the highest valued characteristics, qualities, and behaviors in the marketplace. I would focus on engaging, inspiring, and empowering the people I was privileged to influence and to lead. If I did this correctly and effectively, and if I leveraged my own unique strengths, basically everything else would take care of itself. I believe the same is 100% true for every person listening to this interview.”
I absolutely believe THE number one key to leadership success is a wholehearted commitment to being an inspirational leader. In fact, I believe this so strongly, I’m writing a book about it! My book, titled Be An Inspirational Leader: Engage, Inspire, Empower, will be published this fall.
How about you, are you leveraging the number one key to leadership success? Are you wholeheartedly committed to being an inspirational leader? Do you engage, inspire, and empower those you lead? I guarantee, when done correctly and effectively, inspirational leadership is absolutely the ultimate strategy for success!
