Data Standards. We see them everywhere from our Social Security numbers to the barcodes on grocery store items. But what about standards in healthcare? As medical products move through the supply chain from manufacturers to distributors to providers, how are those products tracked? What happens when a product is recalled? On average, only 40% of those recalled products are actually found.
That is why a group of attendees, comprised of manufacturers, GPOs, distributors, and providers are gathered in Phoenix, Ariz., for JHC’s third Healthcare Supply Chain eStandards Workshop.
Over the past two days, these attendees have heard from all perspectives in the supply chain regarding the progress of Standards and how to move forward. At the end of the workshop, attendees will leave with an understanding of the industry accepted sunrise dates for enumerating the GLN(Global Location Number) and GTIN (Global Trade Identification Number).
They will also be given a guide that will assist them ,as they adopt standards internally, to work with other participating GPOs and providers to gain contracts and improve processes.
