May 4, 2023 – According to a report from Supply Chain Dive, UPS is looking to open seven healthcare logistics facilities across the world in 2023. In the first quarter of 2023 alone, UPS has opened around 1 million square feet of dedicated healthcare space and is looking to generate over $10 billion in healthcare revenue.
“Our goal is to become the number one complex healthcare logistics provider in the world,” CEO Carol Tomé said on an earnings call in April. In November 2022, UPS took a huge step towards that goal by acquiring Bomi Group. The deal for the healthcare logistics provider allows UPS to boost its cold chain capabilities in Europe and Latin America with the addition of temperature-controlled facilities in 14 countries and 3,000 employees.
In addition to the healthcare logistics facilities, UPS is continuing to expand its UPS Premier service, which uses sensor technology to give healthcare customers increased visibility and enable shipments to be recovered if there are delays or any other issues.
