June 4, 2024- SMI® presented AdventHealth and Medline with the 2024 SMI Tom Hughes Collaboration Award. The announcement and presentation of the award took place at the SMI Spring 2024 in Atlanta. The SMI Tom Hughes Collaboration Award is in honor of the late Tom Hughes, SMI Executive Director from 2004 – 2021. This annual award, established in 2021, recognizes exceptional efforts of industry thought-leaders collaborating to bring innovation, discovery, and improvements to the healthcare supply chain.
The Award Steering Committee chose SMI members AdventHealth and Medline for their collaborative partnership in the co-development of a 300,000-square-foot AdventHealth Consolidated Service Center (CSC). The CSC contains supplies for AdventHealth’s 30 Florida hospital campuses to ensure product availability for patient care. The two organizations will co-operate using a blended staffing model, which includes AdventHealth and Medline team members (Medline Newsroom).
SMI Member, award recipient, Doug Golwas, Chief Commercial Officer at Medline said, “This award demonstrates what is truly possible when partners work collaboratively and transparently, creating a mutually beneficial solution by leveraging the strengths of both organizations.” Marisa Farabaugh, SVP and Chief Supply Chain Officer at AdventHealth agreed and said, “Both teams took what started as a simple idea and worked to create something completely unique and patient centric. Our teams were fully committed to the strategic partnership and this award is truly an honor for AdventHealth and for our supply chain team.”
