February 15, 2021 – “Premier encourages the entry of new reliable, domestic sources of personal protective equipment, including N95 respirators, to the market,” Premier, Inc. (Charlotte, NC) said in a news release.
The statement was a response to a recent New York Times Article that reported a disconnect in the healthcare supply chain when it came to American-made personal protective equipment (PPE).
“We are proud of our transparent, expedited sourcing process that is able to bring new manufacturers of critical supplies to our members in as little as two weeks, while simultaneously ensuring that all of our exacting standards for quality and affordability are met,” the company said.
“In addition to our traditional GPO contracts, we operate an e-commerce channel, stockd., that gets critical products to providers who may not have the ability to buy in large quantities. We welcome the opportunity to engage in a dialogue to begin an expedited review of any manufacturer of N95 respirators, including those referenced in a recent article appearing in The New York Times.”
Premier is a healthcare improvement company, comprised of more than 4,100 U.S. hospitals and health systems and approximately 200,000 other providers and organizations across the nation.
