June 7, 2024- The National Institutes of Health is allocating about $30 million from 2024 to 2025 to create a national primary care research network. The Communities Advancing Research Equity for Health (CARE for health) initiative aims to bolster clinical research in communities that have been underrepresented in research. The program will combine existing NIH-funded clinical research networks with community partners to conduct research at select primary care sites nationwide. According to the NIH, the goal is to create health systems where research informs physician work and data informs research. According to Becker’s Hospital Review and NIH, the first round of funding will support research at organizations in rural areas and is expected to be allocated this fall.
