February 8, 2024- With respiratory season still very much affecting the nation, new data has been released in relation to Long COVID’s impact on children. According to new research published in Pediatrics, between 10-20 percent of children who have experienced an acute COVID-19 infection ended up with Long COVID infections. The CDC initially estimated this number to only be 1 percent of children, prompting researchers to try and better understand Long COVID and its impacts on younger patients.
The latest research is important, as it shows that the prevalence of the condition differs between children and adults. Research and therapeutic solutions for patients with Long COVID are still in the development phases.
