October 5, 2021 – Jefferson Health (Philadelphia, PA) and Einstein Healthcare Network (Philadelphia, PA) announced they have completed their merger to create an integrated 18-hospital health system.
Ken Levitan, president and CEO of Einstein will remain as president and CEO of Einstein while adding the role of EVP at Jefferson Health. In this new role, he will help guide the transition and integration efforts of Einstein while exploring new strategic initiatives for Jefferson.
Through the merger, the system will have two Level-One and one Level-Two trauma centers; seven specialties that are nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report; and access to the largest midwifery and transplant programs in the region.
With the addition of Einstein, Jefferson Health will host the largest number of residents and fellows in the Greater Philadelphia region.The merger also brings together MossRehab and Magee Rehab, combining their respective strengths with nationally recognized brain-trauma and spinal-cord injury programs.
The organization says that the next step is for Einstein and Jefferson to begin a “thoughtful integration process, purposefully aligning and building upon the strengths of both organizations.”
Throughout this process, patient access to care at Einstein and Jefferson will remain uninterrupted.
