October 21, 2024- In 2014, surgeons with the INTEGRIS Health Heart Hospital were the first in the nation to perform a HeartMate 3 (HM3) LVAD implant. Now, the hospital is celebrating the team’s 300th HM3 LVAD implant. A left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is a mechanical pump used to support heart function in patients with severe heart failure. Overall, the INTEGRIS Health Heart Hospital Advanced Cardiopulmonary Care has the 8th largest LVAD program in the country. The hospital is celebrating its 300th HM3 implant, but if you tally up all the generational devices over the years, INTEGRIS Heart Health Hospital has implanted nearly 750 LVADs and counting.
