October 3, 2022 – The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) released its latest Thought Leaders white paper – Pandemic Preparedness Summit: Industry Observations and Policy Solutions. The white paper summarized the findings of HIDA’s first-ever Pandemic Preparedness Summit, which was held in June as part of the annual Washington Summit and Fly-In.
The white paper advances several policy solutions on the issues of warm production lines, sending clear production signals, and creation of a critical products list. The Thought Leaders white paper is available for download on the HIDA.org website at Pandemic Preparedness Summit: Industry Observations and Policy Solutions.
Stakeholders from both the public and private sector discussed mutual challenges, shared industry observations, and offered policy solutions surrounding three key topics – supply chain collaboration, communication protocols, and technology & data solutions. Among the industry observations in the white paper are the need to build collaborative capacity, understand the causes of product scarcity, and nurture connections between stakeholders.
The Pandemic Preparedness Summit convened healthcare distributors and manufacturers from the private sector with federal partners from government agencies charged with managing pandemic response and the healthcare supply chain. The Summit included federal partners from Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, Strategic National Stockpile, Food and Drug Administration, and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
