October 3, 2024- Dockworkers at dozens of U.S. ports went on strike this week in the hopes of a massive pay increase, seeking to flex their power in a strike that aims to strangle the flow of trade across much of the country, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
How will it affect the U.S. healthcare supply chain?
Michael Hughes, Vice President of Supply Chain – North America, Henry Schein, told Repertoire that in the short term, a strike should have little impact on health care, and business should remain close to normal. “But to remain prepared and to help reduce potential impacts in the long term, it is essential to maintain communication within the supply chain and work with your distributors to identify if domestic alternatives are available on critical items,” he said. “This will be key to help ensure resiliency in your supply chain when handling any disruptions.”
