BlackTie Medical introduces HandOff
Detroit, Mich.-based BlackTie Medical introduced a new service, called HandOffTM, that automates bill-only transactions across the healthcare supply chain. The Web-based solution targets hospital supply purchases that do not go through the usual standard purchasing process and are not represented in the Materials Management System’s Item File. These purchases are usually high-priced items that are ordered for specific cases, and at the hospital’s request, are not delivered until the time of service; therefore, the process cannot be effectively monitored by the typical MMIS. The HandOff application follows an automated process that encompasses physician/procedure documentation, contract price look up, approvals, automatic requisition submission and forwarding the purchase order to the vendor. It also offers complete contract price list digitization to ensure pricing accuracy, integrated intelligence to capture capitation and other case-specific discounts, automatic implant documentation, customizable approval routing, auditable transaction controls, dashboard graphics, joint transaction visibility with vendor representatives and predesigned plug-ins for requisition interfaces with the hospital’s MMIS. BlackTie’s HandOff application is HIPAA compliant and is available to hospitals through a monthly subscription.
