The lists were calculated based on three data sources:
- Nationwide Online Survey: Healthcare professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about pediatric care e.g., general, and specialized pediatricians and nurses were asked to recommend leading children’s hospitals in the US. Healthcare professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about oncology e.g., oncologists, hematologists, and oncology nurses were asked to recommend leading cancer hospitals in the US.
- Hospital Quality Metrics: General hospital quality metrics as well as certifications and accreditations with a focus relevant to the specialties were considered for the children’s ranking. Hospital quality metrics with a focus on indicators relevant to oncology care were considered for the cancer ranking.
- Results from Patient Surveys: Survey of patient experience during their hospitalization.
