July 13, 2023 – Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital recently opened to care for its first patients, becoming the city of Mentor’s first hospital and Cleveland Clinic’s first in Lake County.
Mentor Hospital will serve patients who have shorter hospital stays with follow-up care at home, based on their less critical needs. If patients need more acute or specialized care, they will be transferred to the appropriate Cleveland Clinic location, such as Hillcrest Hospital, Euclid Hospital or main campus.
Mentor Hospital features 34 inpatient/observation rooms, 23 outpatient rooms, 19 emergency department beds, 12 pre-/post-anesthesia care beds and four operating rooms.
Outpatient services include bariatric surgery, cardiology, digestive disease, general and colorectal surgery, vascular surgery, urology, pulmonary medicine, orthopaedics and sports medicine. Inpatient care consists of primary care, orthopaedics and general surgery. Lab and imaging services are also available at the hospital.
Mentor Hospital has the city’s first 24-hour Emergency Department, which includes a drive-through canopy for EMS vehicles.
The hospital will be managed by Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, allowing for easy access and staffing between facilities.
The hospital is designed for high energy performance, including:
- On-site solar energy production with a solar panel array
- Storm-water retention and management
- Electric vehicle charging capabilities
- On-site covered bike parking
Other sustainability initiatives include the preservation of natural wetlands and woodlands at the multi-acre site.
Cleveland Clinic has eight other facilities in Lake and Geauga counties, including primary care offices in Chardon, Concord, Madison, the Mentor Wayside Building, and at the Willoughby Hills Family Health Center.
Mentor Hospital is Cleveland Clinic’s 23rd hospital and the first new hospital in northeast Ohio since Avon Hospital opened in 2016.
