Carl Meyer, executive VP of The Wetrich Group, plays 100 holes of golf for charity

June 29, 2022 – For the last 14 years, Carl Meyer has played a round of “power golf” for charity on Independence Day, benefiting Hire Heroes USA – a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment.

“The work the charity does is just unbelievable,” Meyer told Lake Country Neighbors, a local publication. “The first year Hire Heroes USA was formed, they had a staff of four and placed 37 men and women in jobs. Today, they have 100 employees in five locations, and last year (2021) they placed 10,000 veterans in jobs with an average starting salary of $62,839. That’s why I do it. It’s a great cause and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Meyer, executive vice president of healthcare management consulting firm The Wetrich Group, raises pledge money from other members of his local golf course, Chenequa Country Club. He has raised more than $1.145 million dollars in the last 14 years, including $170,500 last summer. The money that Meyer has raised has helped Hire Heroes USA place more than 780 veterans and their spouses into good-paying jobs.

This year, Meyer has already raised over $100,000, bringing the total amount raised to $1.25 million.

“As our clients navigate a challenging economic environment, Carl’s support is more than ever,” said Andrew Sandoe, CEO of Hire Heroes USA. “Military members are still leaving the service during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Carl’s passion and support helps to ensure they can find fulfilling and purposeful work after their time in uniform. We are extremely proud and humbled by his dedication and commitment.”
