May 12, 2021 – Capstone Health Alliance (Fletcher, NC) announced a $10,000 fundraising match to Montreat College for the first scholarship of its kind for non-traditional adult learners.
Montreat College’s School of Adult and Graduate Studies (AGS) Founder and Professor of Business, Dr. Isaac Owolabi, recently established the scholarship.
Dr. Owolabi was raised in Nigeria where basic education was difficult to access. His father, Jacob Owolabi, made a promise to give every one of his children the opportunity for formal education despite the family’s financial constraints. To honor his father, Dr. Owolabi established the Jacob B. Owolabi Memorial Endowment Scholarship to help support adult students who could not otherwise fund their higher education.
This scholarship will support eligible non-traditional undergraduate AGS students beginning Fall 2021. Inspired by Dr. Olowabi’s passion for education, Montreat alumnus Tim Bugg (‘07), President and CEO of Capstone Health Alliance partnered with Montreat College to provide a $10,000 fundraising match.
Alumni and friends of Montreat can help by pledging their support to fund the first adult education scholarship at the College. The goal is to raise $20,000 collectively by June 30, 2021.
