May 3, 2023 – The Biden-Harris administration has announced the end of the COVID-19 vaccine requirements for federal employees, federal contractors, international air travelers, head start educators, and CMS-certified healthcare facilities.
In 2021, the Biden administration required COVID-19 vaccines to improve the health and safety of individuals, protect important sectors of the U.S. economy, and protect our vulnerable populations.
In a statement released from The White House, COVID-19 deaths have declined by 95% and hospitalizations declined 91% since 2021. After nearly 270 million Americans received a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the White House says that “we are in a different phase of our response to COVID-19 than we were when many of these requirements were put in place.”
The vaccine requirement ends on May 11, the same day that the COVID-19 public health emergency ends.
