March 18, 2021 – Healthcare provider Supply Chain leaders are invited to participate in this continuous research on leader qualifications and sources to match growing demand, as retirements continue.
The 2021 version of this Survey is based on recommendations from many of the responders to the 2015 and 2016 survey editions. It is designed to capture the most current state of this topic and identify the key changes. The Survey also asks other questions regarding major challenges or events, such as the Coronavirus.
The invited Supply Chain executives are being asked to invite their boss to complete the survey section designed for that population. Note that all responses will remain anonymous and confidential, and there will be no attempt to match the responses from the same organization. Participants who complete the entire Survey will receive a copy of the results.
The Survey is being produced by the Bellwether League Foundation (BLF), the Hall of Fame for Healthcare Supply Chain leaders, in collaboration with SMI and AHRMM.
- The Presenting Sponsor is RiseNow, a supply chain operations, CSC, and technology consulting firm.
- The Sponsors are The Wetrich Group: executive coaching and mentoring for healthcare supply chain leaders, search and interim management services, and CSS Consulting Group: Healthcare Support Services Consulting.
The Survey’s genesis was the findings in 2015, of personal interviews of over 50 Healthcare Provider Supply Chain Leaders (mostly from IDNs). Virtually all of them expressed concern about the expected large number of Supply Chain leader positions that will become vacant because of intended retirements. Their concern was a perceived lack of prepared leaders to fill the vacant positions and successfully deal with the increasingly intensified challenges in healthcare provider supply chain management. At that time, almost 50% of the responders stated that they would be retiring within the next 3-4 years. Is, was or will there be enough talent in the industry to fill all these expected vacancies?
The Survey opened for invited responders on March 9 and will close in mid- April.
