June 11, 2024- BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) was named to USA TODAY’s 2024 list of America’s Climate Leaders, recognizing the company’s efforts to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions. The ranking is based on a company’s emissions intensity, which is a measure of the amount of greenhouse gases a company produces relative to its revenue between 2020-2022. BD has underscored its environmental commitments by signing the HHS Health Sector Climate Pledge and committing to reduce emissions by joining the United Nations Race to Zero via the Business Ambition for 1.5°C and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). As part of the HHS Health Sector Climate Pledge, BD increased its Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction target from 46 percent to 50 percent by 2030 (from a 2019 baseline), and in April 2024, the SBTI validated the company’s emission reduction targets.
