Baxter announces updated IV solutions production timeline

November 8, 2024- Baxter expects to restart a second IV solutions manufacturing line in the coming week, according to a November 7 press release from the company. Together with the line restarted last week, these two lines represent – at their peak operation (prior to Hurricane Helene) – approximately 50% of the site’s total production and approximately 85% of the site’s production of one-liter IV solutions, the most commonly used size by hospitals and clinics.

Barring any unanticipated developments, Baxter states that it currently expects that peritoneal dialysis (PD) solutions and irrigation will be the next manufacturing lines to restart by early December. Baxter’s first temporary bridge has already transported more than 1,000 truckloads of finished product off site and to customers.

With the support of ASPR, North Carolina Department of Transportation and Baxter’s local North Carolina team, the second temporary bridge has been installed at the site and is officially in operation as of November 7. This bridge will enable additional truck and equipment traffic to enter and leave the site.
