January 16, 2025- Ascension recognizes the more than 3,000 mission-driven pharmacy professionals in its health system who work around the clock to provide medications to our diverse patient population. Pharmacists both dispense medications and provide patient education, but they also have an important role to help to ensure the rational and cost-effective use of prescription medication for patients. Increasing medication costs negatively impact patient care, and Ascension’s pharmacists work diligently to make sure all patients receive proper care and affordable medications.
As part of Ascension’s mission-driven commitment to serving underserved communities, the health system is also a proud partner of Dispensary of Hope, a charitable medication distributor providing medications free of charge to low-income, uninsured patients.
