December 7, 2023- Ansell announced that it has removed printed IFUs from PPE in America, where regulations don’t specify printed IFUs, and have also started adding QR codes onto primary product packaging worldwide to give all Ansell customers easy access to digital product information.
As per recently published PPE Regulation guidelines, the European Commission (EC) has also removed the requirement that PPE products must be “accompanied” by printed instructions for use (IFUs), paving the way for manufacturers like Ansell to switch to fully digital IFUs.
Ansell alone conservatively estimates 10,500 tons of paper every year to make IFUs for Ansell protective products sold in the EU. This equates to approximately 630 hectares of trees, which is the area of 950 soccer fields. As such, the eventual removal of paper IFUs will significantly reduce the consumption of resources.
