February 24, 2023 – More than 500,000 pieces of personal protective equipment have now left Ansell warehouses, bound for destinations in Turkey and Syria devastated by recent earthquakes. The product donations include protective masks, surgical and exam gloves for use by healthcare workers plus abrasion and crush resistant industrial quality gloves to safeguard the hands of frontline workers handling building and other dangerous debris.
In addition, an Ansell donation to the Australian Red Cross is being channeled to the Turkish Red Crescent and Syrian Arab Red Crescent national societies through its Turkey Syria Earthquakes Appeal. Members of these organizations are on the ground meeting the immediate needs of communities in both countries. This emergency relief includes assisting with search and rescue, transportation to hospitals, first aid, distributing food and essential nonfood items, and providing shelter.
“All Ansell employees worldwide stand together with our colleagues, business partners and customers in Turkey and Syria as they experience and process this unimaginable disaster,” said Neil Salmon, Ansell Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. “We send our support in the best way we know how, by providing superior products that keep people safe in the aftermath of disaster and financial assistance to aid in recovery. We know that the resiliency and determination of the Turkish and Syrian peoples will provide the strength to heal and rebuild.”
