February 19, 2024- Respiratory illness rates have been dropping in recent weeks, but the CDC anticipates that the U.S. could see a second wave of flu infections and many more weeks of disease circulation. Flu cases declined recently, but have been increasing again in Central, Midwestern, and Northeastern states, primarily due to an increase in percent positivity for influenza B.
A total of 25 states reported high levels of virus activity for the week ending Feb. 10, including Arkansas, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Wyoming) that saw “very high” levels. New York City and Washington, D.C., also reported very high levels.
